First the good. I enjoyed the fact that this game contained a series of word games. I haven't encountered this in any of the other games I played.

In the Hidden Object Scenes, there is a clever twist where for at least one of the objects you have to find you are given a phrase, like "lemon-lime", and you have to find two objects (in this case a wedge of lime and a wedge of lemon)and combine them.

There are mystery morphing objects in each scene. When you find a certain amount, you unlock additional Hidden Object scenes to play.

The bad (at least for me): like another reviewer says, there is a lot of repetition, and revisiting scenes over and over. For one group of scenes, you are finding x amount of 2 objects (like in the Magician scene where you are finding a crescent moon and card suite symbols) and they are very difficult to find.

The puzzles that aren't word related require more skill than brains to complete for the most part. They are similar to carnival games you would find in the real world.

But here's what really bugs me: the ending of the game. Without giving too much away (but SPOILER ALERT, just in case), the solution to the mystery makes no sense unless you have played another game in the MCF series! Seriously? It just comes out of left field and has nothing to do with the rest of the game. Shameless plug alert!

I really enjoyed the first Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes, so I bought the second one as soon as it was released. I was not disappointed, and I enjoyed this game just as much as the first. The gameplay and style are exactly the same as the first game, but the sequel offers new cases. For those unfamiliar with the series, this is primarily a hidden object game, punctuated by logic-style puzzles at the end of each chapter. The game features a series of Sherlock Holmes cases, and you must search a variety of locations to find clues to solve the mystery. Each location reveals a number of potential suspects, and the conclusion involves solving a logic and memory puzzle to determine which party is guilty. The cases are well-written, and the hidden object scenes are appropriate to the time and place in question (late-19th c. London). The suspects are believable, and the objects one must find to discover suspects are appropriate to the story (perfume bottles for the mistress of a prominent politician, for example). This, however, was completely different-- I immediately bought it when the 30 minute trial was up, and haven't stopped playing yet! I love the fact that there are unlockables (tile sets, backgrounds, games you can play at your leisure rather than against the clock) as well as playing against the clock for higher and higher points, and several different ways to play the game (I enjoy the challenge of River, while Split makes me want to pull my hair out). My 16 year old daughter has really enjoyed it, too (the game allows several users and keeps track of each one's level) so this was definitely worth the price! My only concern is that it has crashed out to the desktop twice in the week or so I've had it, but I can immediately restart it without any problem. I don't know what it says about me that my heart did a little flip of happiness when I saw there was a Fishdom 2 Game, but it did.

I've played all the other Fishdom games, so what's new? You still get different themed tanks to populate with fish and dress up with various decorations. It seemed to me that they were more generous with the amount and variety of the decorations provided. I wish there were more kinds of fish, but there's a decent choice.

You still earn money to create your tanks by playing the match 3 game, but they now give you a chance to earn extra dollars by adding a hidden object game where you collect gems. Gems are also occasionally scattered around the your tank to find.

The Match 3 game takes more work and quickness to get through than strategy. I thought the colors and graphics of the gameboard were more sophisticated than in the previous Fishdom games. The music in Fishdom 2 is surprisingly good for a match 3 game. Someone really rocks out on a flute.

One cool thing is that on some levels, you begin the game with one match that starts a domino cascade of tiles to start falling. Visually clever.

First you have to download an Amazon downloader program, then a pretty long game download (15 minutes - yes, I have broadband and have no trouble streaming videos). Then an installation process. After all this, every time I launched the game, I got a system message that an error had occurred - no error code, no help option, just the totally unhelpful message that an error had occured. I tried disabling my firewall and antivirus - same result. This left me with another chore of uninstalling the two useless programs. Also, the standard installation automatically launches the amazon downloader every time you boot up, running it in the background and using system resources for the few times you might want to download another game from Amazon.

I have successfully downloaded books, movies, tax software and other games to this computer with few problems. With those few problems, I was offered a helpscreen and troubleshooting tips.

If you're fairly experienced with adventure/puzzle/hidden object games, this may not be the game for you. It's geared towards a younger audience, or a first time players. For a younger person, around the age of 12, I think it would be a lot of fun. It would also probably be fun for parents looking for a game to play with a younger child. Hints are available and the option to skip puzzles also exists, which would also make it suitable for younger players.

I found it a nice, relaxing, game. The animation is good, the story is creative and fun. It's not very challenging though. Even the more difficult puzzles are just a case of taking a bit more time to solve, vs. needing to be able to think the problem through. It requires patience, but not highly developed skill for most of the puzzles. The early ones are very easy. The game does progress in difficulty, but never really rises to a challenging level.

I'm glad I bought it, it made for a good game right before bed, to unwind before going to sleep. If you're an adult looking for something a bit more challenging, be aware this likely isn't the game for you. Also, there is one scene within a chapter that caused my laptop (recent, fast processor) to run very, very slowly. This is a very fun addictive game. All you do is cook food for customers until they start running out in frustration then you lose stars. The more stars you lose the closer you get to losing the round. Customers come in all varieties and the black female customers are more short tempered (it even mentions that in the directions) the younger white males are the least short tempered.
You are cooking alot of different things from fried eggs to short ribs to pork chops or chinese food, and have to hurry up and get it off the boiler before it burns, then you have to walk all the way to the other end to put ketchup and mustard on it upon request.
You have orange and strawberry juice machines. Then there's Granny who only does burgers, salads and sandwiches to help you out. You serve sliced cake and cookies. If you take too long, the customer will walk out w/out the desserts causing you to lose money.
If you make something accidentally that someone didn't order you will have two options: either to wait until someone comes along who will want it (usually a long wait), or throw it out which will cost money.

If you're a fan of the classic board game Risk but don't have willing playing partners or hours to play a game, then you will enjoy this PC download version. You can select the skill level of your computerized opponents and play anywhere from a 3-player to 6-player game. The best thing is that if you select the "quick battle" option, all of the tedious dice rolling is done instantly. A 10-minute battle becomes a 1 second battle - that shortens game time from hours to minutes. I just completed a 6-player game in about 15 minutes. The graphics are very good, a bit old school but true to the board game. The only drawbacks are that you cannot back out of certain actions - for instance, once you click a country to be the source of reinforcements, you can't back out of that. Second complaint: the difficulty level doesn't seem too high. Even the more "skilled" electronic generals make bad mistakes that a mid-level player like me can spot and take advantage of. If you are looking for a hidden objects game, this isn't really it. There are a couple of traditional hidden object screens, but it is really much more of a puzzle/adventure game. I enjoy both so that was fine. However, as an experienced adventure game player, I found it lacked challenge (hence the lower "fun" rating) and was therefore over too soon, but others may find the ease of play relaxing.

You play as a girl who wakes up in a castle and your aim is to get out. You will meet up with a few cute troll or gnome-like characters who ask you to do something before they can help you find something you need. Mostly, you will look for objects to use on other objects or collect a number of similar items which function as door keys. In addition to these adventure style puzzles, there are a variety of "mini-games", including jig-saw style, simon says type puzzles, simple matching puzzles, a few marble drop puzzles and a few mahjong games.

Once you have completed the tasks in a room, you can go back into it, so as you progress you can wander about if you like, though there won't be anything much to interact with.

There are no time limits in the game, and you can skip some of the "mini games". There is a cute (and blessedly silent) fairy helper if you need her to give you a hint, but if you are an experienced gamer and wish to be challenged even a little bit, avoid saying "yes" to the initial tutorial, try not to skip puzzles and don't consult the little fairy for hints or the game will be over in a couple of hours. Otherwise, you can stretch it out to almost four by taking your time, looking at everything and all that.

It is a well constructed game with beautiful artwork; relaxing and enjoyable... while it lasts. I don't think it has much replay value, but once you complete the game, it does unlock a stand alone mahjong tile game.

Low Price Midnight Mysteries: Salem Witch Trials [Game Download]

This is a well constructed game, with obvious attention to detail, right down to the dust motes swirling in a beam of light. The hidden object scenes are moderately challenging; I did not need any hints to find anything. The main challenge was in the scenes outside the hidden ones. You have to pay attention and thoroughly search them for inventory pieces (signaled by a grabby blue hand or sparkle)and information (signaled by an eyeball looking around, which I found amusing for some reason). There were fewer puzzles than in many of these types of game, and they were the easiest I've encountered so far. Which was just fine with me, because I don't want to always have to bust a brain cell just figuring out how a puzzle works like in the Mystery Case File Games.

Speaking of the MCF Games, I do not agree that this is better than Dire Grove, but it's up there on the tier just below. Dire Grove was more subtle in it's scariness, more creepy, while this game contains a series of sudden shocks, that make you jump at points. Interestingly enough, a wolf is part of both those games. How about a bear next time?

Cheap Nancy Drew: Ransom Of The Seven Ships [Game Download]

But this one was especially fun to play. If you aren't familiar with Nancy Drew games, they are adventure/mystery games that feature a good storyline, puzzles to solve and obstacles to overcome. The graphics are almost always very good. And, like the books, they are very family friendly.

This game takes place on an island and you travel from location to location in a golf cart. You will also sail and scuba dive. You will have to solve puzzles to advance through the game, some of which are pretty difficult. I always use a walkthrough when I play because I don't like to get frustrated (I highly recommend Universal Hint System for walkthroughs), but even with a walkthrough some of the obstacles are still difficult. Beating the monkey at the coconut game comes to mind.

Everything is bigger and better in this game - the number of puzzles, the amount of skill (or luck) required in conquering all of the levels, the excitement of forging your way to Big Kahuna status - heck, even the exotic fish you unlock as you advance through the levels are bigger than before. I initially worried that the new "chain reaction" aspect of the game would take away some of the challenge, but I was wrong. Sure, it can be a lot easier to maneuver your way out of a jam with the help of different types of bombs, but the addition of those explosive pieces also allows for new kinds of puzzles you won't find in the first game - and those bombs are of little use to you if you can't maneuver them down to where you really need them.

Big Kahuna Reef 2 is broken up in to three different sections. The Kahuna Quest consists of one hundred puzzles of gradually increasing difficulty - nothing that should really bog you down. Once you solve all of these puzzles, the other two sections of the game are unlocked. The Tiki Challenge consists of 36 different puzzles, the last dozen or so of which can prove somewhat daunting; I'm still trying to finish the last of these, but I'm determined to beat it or die trying. Rounding out the trio of sections is Other Adventures, featuring no less than 600 puzzles created by players of the game from all over the world. I was pleasantly surprised as I started this game, and by the time I finished, I was enthralled.
The graphics and story line were super. Instructions were limited, and no skips. The only problem
I really encountered was with the tools that were supposed to help you discover the missing pieces.
You must put the finger of the hand on the exact spot or the tool will not work. I think I experienced
this little mystery spot problem the whole way through the game. Even as I knew this was the trick,
finding that exact spot was elusive even when the clues showed you where it should be. Overall it

I made the mistake of playing Dire Grove first and then because I loved it so much, I bought THIS. I was unaware that there was a mandatory running timer through the whole thing, even in so called "relaxed" mode. Dire Grove had no timer. I actually have PLENTY of deadlines to deal with at work and I want to play games at my own place to relax. The clock in the corner constantly ticking down was a major distraction- you can't even turn the sound off without turning off all the game sound effects- and I found it hard to even enjoy the game at all because all I kept noticing was the clock. It felt like work. I don't think I'll continue with this and if this is how the rest of their games are I won't be buying any more. I suppose Dire Grove was a fluke. This game was pretty fun. I purchased it when it was on sale so I feel I got my monies worth.

The game is fun....you are trying to find the hidden objects and in addition to this you need to review the clues to find who is the theif. There are also mini games that relate to the story line.

There are many rooms to explore (usually 4 with each suspect)and there are 9 or 10 suspects. The graphics are not super high quality so it can make finding the objects difficult. The only other complaint is that the rooms do not change when you search for clues with a differenct suspect. For example, Rachel's room (and the objects in it) are exactly the same as when you are investigating the butler. A small gripe, but still.

I purchased this game on Sunday and was finished with all of it (and no, I did not play continously) by Thursday. There are a total of 25 levels but they are so easy it takes no time to get through them. The "puzzles" consist of color matching, walking through a maze with a map, and matching sequences. Besides searching for the dream pieces there really wasn't much to find. Even if you do get stumped trying to find an object, all you have to do is roll your mouse around and it will show you where the item is.

After reading the great reviews, I was disappointed. The game was not awful, just average. The story line was hokey but the animation was beautiful. The puzzles were simple but if you did not get the correct solutions, you could just keep clicking until you did. this is one of those interactive hidden object games. i really liked it. i like all hidden object but especially the ones that are interactive and have interesting minigames.
the only drawback is that it is a short game and it took about 3 hours to download. i have a newer computer and it never takes that long. i was really surprised when it was taking that long.
i just finished it and uninstalled it. amazon keeps a library of your downloaded games so you can download them again if you want to play them and meanwhile, they won't take up space.

there is a hint button and you have to wait till it fills for the next hint and it fills pretty quick.
also, on the minigames, you can skip them but i did every one. they were not difficult at all.

for this price, it's worth it.

I carefully screened the reviews for this game both those here and on other games where it was mentioned. I thought I'd picked well.
However, from the very first moment of play, you are strictly on your own. You also enter the same rooms over and over again. Sometimes, I was far ahead of the story-line book in that I would have already accomplished finding items, opening tombs,etc., and other pages were too sparse in the notes. I have now played about three/four of this story-line HOG, and by far this has been the worst experience.

This game will appeal to fans of Ouat's 'Pure Hidden'. It doesn't quite have the zen of that game, and the clinical 'backstory' is quite hokey, but it has many of the abstract search scenes that I liked so much in 'Pure Hidden'. (I completely disagree with the reviewer who claimed the items were unrecognisable - some are very hard to find, but the graphics are excellent.)

I've played about 5 hours now (skipping most of the minigames, as I don't like the 'repeat after me' type of game), and although I'm revisiting some search screens, I'm still discovering new ones. The game seems to have a random algorithm that determines what scene and type of search you'll get next.
